Why is Two Wheel Trimming's layered foam method superior?
It is shaped to you - every rider has a unique shape meaning that what makes you comfortable will not be what makes another rider comfortable
A layered foam method means that different densities can be used to accommodate riders at either end of the scale. We have worked with riders over 130kg and under 60kg
and of course plenty in between
The foam is sculpted to your exact specifications not just to fit the original cover
We use the existing seat base (pan) which, combined with the new foam, will usually make your seat lighter than the original
Your new seat is engineered to match the style of your bike - or you can make it look however you want
We use your seat base, so no need to get a whole new seat
The foam is of the highest grade and backed by the manufacturer's 10 year warranty
What are the benefits of a fully re-foamed seat?
The seat is designed for you and your weight and height
It is a full newly foamed seat - we do not just add extra layers
Tailoring the seat means comfort for long stretches in the saddle
The ride height can be modified lower for "vertically challenged" riders
A more stylish looking seat than the original, and one which is truly unique
What is wrong with injection-mould seats?
Injection moulded foam is a structurally weaker foam making it prone to collapsing, compressing and losing its shape over time
Combined with the aftermarket base of either fibreglass or steel, the seat is much heavier than the original. This would be a major consideration for smaller bikes.
After-market mass produced seats are usually made in the same size and not tailored to the individual rider
If you already have an aftermarket seat (Corbin or Sargent for example) and you are not happy with it, contact us and we can help.
What about sheepskin seat covers?
The sheepskin does not modify the comfort of your actual seat - it just simply adds another layer of material also making your ride height higher
Sheepskin is abrasive to your seat's original vinyl cover - this means that if it was in poor condition to start with it will be in worse condition after
using a sheepskin seat. If a cover is all you are after, depending on your bike model we can probably cover your seat for cheaper
than the cost of a sheepskin cover. Contact us for a quotation.
Sheepskin is not waterproof.
Please also note we would not suggest fitting a sheepskin seat cover after we have re-foamed your seat. Our foam shaping is designed to work for you without any additional assistance.
Is there a break-in period for the foam?
Yes - depending on your weight, we would recommend that you allow around 500 to 1000 kilometres of riding before the new foam properly settles. If your seat still requires some
tweaking, let us know.
What sort of payment types are accepted?
You can pay by cash (if you are picking up your seat in person), money order, cheque or direct bank deposit. Typically we require payment prior to return postage. Unfortunately at this time we are unable to take a credit card payment.
How long are quotes valid for?
Our quotes are valid for 3 months from the date of the quote. If we have quoted you longer than 3 months ago, please check with us again to get an up to date price.
How do I send my seat to you?
Firstly, please make sure you book your seat with us before you send it - contact us for more details on our scheduling.
We use and recommend Australia Post registered parcel post for all seats, but you are of course welcome to use your own company. For Australia
Post, it is generally cheaper and easier to wrap your seat snugly in a shock-absorbing material (like bubblewrap) and then cover with a strong plastic
(like a very tough garbage bag for example), and then tape it all up securely. The Australia Post website can give you an indication of postage costs each way,
just
click here. You just need the approximate weight of your seat not the dimensions.
